The El Brujo Archaeological Complex begins 2023 full of activities and new experiences for all its visitors and the community. Moreover, it presents its new calendar of web activities, a tool that will allow its visitors to learn about its available events and better organize their visits to El Brujo.

All these new experiences are framed within the new definition of what a museum should be, according to ICOM, which establishes that museums must be:

"Open to the public, accessible and inclusive, museums foster diversity and sustainability. With the participation of communities, museums operate and communicate ethically and professionally, offering varied experiences for education, enjoyment, reflection and knowledge-sharing. (ICOM, 2022)"

That is to say, museums cease to be places solely of contemplation, to become venues that generate interaction and integration with their community and visitors. Below, we mention some of the activities and new experiences that El Brujo presents.

Free art workshops in El Brujo

Every Friday in January and February, children and adolescents from 8 to 15 years of age from the Ascopana community can sign up free of charge to the music, dance and theater workshops of El Brujo, which are led by highly qualified teachers. With this, we seek to encourage art and identity in the community near the archaeological complex. During your visit, you can also participate in these workshops, together with the community.

Among them we have "Discover ceramics with your hands" and "Wooden hands", activities that allow visitors to interact with ceramics and wood and learn through touch their characteristics and history. As well as "We paint the tattoos of the Lady of Cao" and "We elaborate the funerary bundle of the Lady of Cao", activities that will allow visitors to learn more details about her history and characteristics, as well as replicate her tattoos and even make a replica of the funerary bundle of this important personage.

These new experiences seek to generate and share with visitors vivid knowledge and foment the development of their creativity and identity with our history.

Events and activities for special dates

Moreover, exclusive events will now also be organized for special dates such as Easter Week, National Holidays and the anniversary month of the complex and Wiese Foundation. Visitors to El Brujo will be able to enjoy and participate in co-creative manual activities with special themes, contemplate and be dazzled by artistic stagings, live music, tourist fairs and much more.
